Specific hazards
Supporting measures for avoidance of EMC problems:
a) mains supply
-
if electromagnetic interference arises despite correct mains connec-
tion, additional measures are necessary (e.g. use of a suitable line
filter).
b) welding leads
-
must be kept as short as possible
-
must run close together (to avoid EMF problems)
-
must be kept well apart from other leads
c)
Equipotential bonding
d) Earthing the workpiece
-
If necessary, establish an earth connection using suitable capacitors.
e) Shielding, if necessary
-
shield off other nearby devices
-
shield off entire welding installation
f)
Prohibited to persons with pacemakers:
The strong magnetic fields generated by resistance welding will interfere
with the function of pacemakers. This may cause considerable damage to
the health of the affected persons. Persons with pacemakers must not re-
main in the immediate vicinity of welding operations.
g) Prohibited to persons with metal implants:
Persons with metal implants must not work with a resistance welding de-
vice and must not be in the immediate vicinity when welding is in
progress.
h) You should not be carrying magnetic or electronic data carriers:
Magnetic electronic data carriers can be damaged by the magnetic fields
generated by resistance welding.
i)
You should not be carrying watches or pieces of metal. Watches can be
damaged when operating resistance welding devices.
Stay out of the working area of the robot
The operating company must incorporate the device into a higher-level safety
system if the installation location is within a secured area that has to be ac-
cessed when setup and maintenance work is carried out. In this case meas-
ures must be implemented to ensure that the entire system is switched off for
the duration of the work in this area and that it is prevented from starting up
again accidentally as the result, for example, of a control fault.
In addition to these operating instructions, the robot manufacturer's safety
rules must also be observed.
Keep hands, hair, clothing and tools away from moving parts. For example:
-
Cogs
-
Rollers
-
Shafts
-
Joints
Do not reach into rotating drive components.
