Connecting the Computer via Wireless LAN
Overview
You can connect computers and other network devices to the
FRITZ!Box without cables via wireless LAN. You have the following
options to establish a secure wireless connection:
• Establish a wireless connection using a network key
• Establish a wireless connection using WPS
Security: Encryption Methods
The FRITZ!Box is preconfigured with encryption using today’s safest
method WPA2. This encryption method is supported by most of the
latest wireless devices. Select a different encryption method only if
you would like to deploy older network-compatible devices. The “WPA
+ WPA2” setting automatically uses the WPA mode most suitable for
your connections.
Please note the possible encryption mechanisms:
Mechanism Protocol Quality
WPA2 CCMP Very secure
WPA TKIP Secure
Non-encrypted – Very insecure, not recommended
