Waste & Water Systems
NOTICE
When filling the tank, never seal the hose
to the deck plate. The tank would be come
pressurized and could rupture.
NOTICE
DO NOT overfill the water tank. Tank dam age
may result. Water capacity and tank loca tion
may vary due to other equip ment that may be
in stal led on the boat.
For information concerning fresh water tank capaci-
ties, please visit our website at www.fourwinns.com or
contact your Four Winns dealer.
The materials from which the compo nents of the water
system are made may give the water supply a peculiar
taste, especially when new. This condi tion is normal and
can be re duced somewhat through the use of a water
filter; such as that produced by PuriTeam. The taste
should completely dissipate in time.
J - 2 DISINFECTING THE FRESH WATER
SYSTEM
The fresh (potable) water system should be
disinfected prior to initial use.
The water system should be disinfected before first
use and at the beginning of each season. The follow-
ing information is a general guide to disin fecting the
fresh water system.
1. Flush the boat’s water system thoroughly with
fresh water. Make sure all non-toxic antifreeze is
re moved from the system.
2. The water system should be drained com plete ly.
3. To disinfect the water system, use one gallon of
water and 1/4 cup of Clo rox
®
or Purex
®
household
bleach (5% sodium hypo chlorite solu tion). This is
recommended for each 15 gallons of tank cap-
acity.
4. Allow to stand for three (3) hours. If time is a
factor, greater concentra tions of chlorine solution
will be needed to disinfect the water system.
J - 1 GENERAL
Certain SL models may be equipped with a fresh
water supply system. If equipped, this system gener-
ally consists of a water sup ply tank, water distribution
lines, transom shower, and a distribution pump. Refer
to Figure J15 at the end of this section for general wa-
ter system diagram. Typically the water fill deck plate
is located on the starboard side deck in front of the
windshield, and is marked “WATER”. The location of
the water fill deck plate for the fresh water system may
vary depending upon the model and optional equip-
ment installed. See Figure J1.
Figure J1: Water Fill & Vent
The water deck plate is appro priately labeled
WATER. DO NOT fill the system with any thing
other than water. Should the system become
contaminated with fuel or other toxic solution,
complete system or com ponent replacement
may be necessary.
The fresh water tank which supplies water to the aft
shower is located in the bow area under the floor.
(Location may vary depending upon model and op-
tions installed). The water tank is equipped with an
overboard vent. Maintain a close visual watch on the
over board vent while filling the water tank. Always fill
the tank slowly. When the tank is almost full, water will
spurt out of the vent.
