Usually the high limit is exceeded as described in the previous section and then
you need to install a suitable aperture. In such a case we recommend to select the
6.5 mm size aperture as your first choice.

When fitting the aperture, great care have to be taken not to touch or damage the
surface of the fiber bundle. Preferably a retriever claw (see picture below) can
be used to both lower the aperture into the lamp housing as well as get the screws
in position before you tighten them.

How to determine the need for an aperture
Start with making a test of the Max value. Go into the Service Menu: 2 Automatic
Tests/
2 Monochromator/ 6 Reference Scan.
The Max value should be somewhere between 45000 and 55000 ADC bits.
Aperture, Installation
1.
Follow steps 1-5 in the above section.
2.
Assemble the Monochromator Lamp and redo the test.
3.
If the Max value is not satisfying - redo the whole procedure once again.
