Thank you for purchasing the SSA3 Indoor / Outdoor wire and wireless Siren Strobe alarm. This product will provide
you with the peace of mind and protection you expect.
The SSA3 is a combination wire and wireless Siren & Strobe Alarm. Works with traditional wire trigger from a security
control panel or as a wireless Z-Wave
TM
enabled alarm device and will sound a loud siren and flash a strobe light
when an alarm message or alert is received on any Z-Wave
TM
enabled network.
The SSA3 unit WILL ALERT you from the home
security panel
only if correctly wired to the panel.
The SSA3 unit WILL ALERT if you have it connected to a Z-Wave network.
The SSA3 unit can be used in either way (Wire or Wireless) or BOTH at the same time.
For outdoor Use:
Unit is not recommended to be used in direct exposure to harsh elements, rain, snow, and sun.
The SSA3 is based on wireless (RF) transmissions. Any wireless transmission can be subject to RF
interference and, although unlikely, this interference may cause the SSA3 to not operate as intended. RF
transmissions will be attenuated by tinted glass, in wall isolation with metal foils, metal objects etc. Test
communication to the SSA3 before final placement. Add additional Z-Wave repeater modules to improve RF
communication if necessary. Z-Wave is a mesh network; more units, the better is the communication.
The SSA3 must not be used in life support and/or safety applications. Information provided in this document
is for your convenience and may be superseded by updates to either the document or the product. It is your
responsibility to ensure that the SSA3 meets with your specifications.

for testing and installation is: a) hold tamper switch closed, b) connect the 9V battery, c) program SSA3 into
your Z-Wave controller, d) test RF communication between your Z-Wave controller and the SSA3, e) improve
RF communication if necessary with adding additional routing Z-Wave devices, f) disconnect the 9V battery,
g) place bottom side of the siren to the permanent location, h) connect permanent power, 9V battery and
trigger wires from Security Panel GND and TAMP+ h) test your siren.
Testing the SSA3
After connecting power to the SSA3, you can test the alarm mode after manually exiting the Network Wide Inclusion (NWI) mode by pressing the
button once or after the unit is included into any Z-Wave
TM
enabled network. To test the SSA3, press and hold the button. The SSA3 will turn on
and remain on until the button is released. While the siren is on, it will continually cycle for 1 second off / 4 seconds on for up to 5 minutes or until it
is turned off. While the strobe is on, the unit will flash at a rate of once per second.
WARNING:
THE SIREN IS EXTREMELY LOUD. WEAR EAR PROTECTION
!
Using the SSA3 in a Z-Wave
TM
Network
The button inside the unit SW1 is used for including or excluding the SSA3 in
a Z-Wave
TM
network. Refer to your controller’s User Manual for details on
network inclusion, exclusion, and association.
