PINPOINT TEST D: DTC B1260 OR DTC B1261 — SOLAR RADIATION SENSOR OPEN CIRCUIT OR SHORT TO GROUND
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
C6 CHECK CIRCUIT 788 (RD/OG) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
Ignition OFF.
Measure the resistance between the RCC module C228 pin 7, circuit 788 (RD/OG) and ground.
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new RCC module. TEST the system
for normal operation.
No
REPAIR circuit 788 (RD/OG) for a short to
ground. TEST the system for normal operation.
Test Step
Result / Action to Take
D1 CHECK THE SOLAR RADIATION SENSOR RESISTANCE
Ignition OFF.
Disconnect: Solar Radiation Sensor C287.
Measure the resistance between the solar radiation sensor pin 1 and pin 5, component side.
Is continuity present and the resistance greater than 0 ohms?
Yes
GO to
D2
.
No
INSTALL a new solar radiation sensor and bracket. TEST the
system for normal operation.
D2 CHECK THE REMOTE CLIMATE CONTROL MODULE OUTPUT VOLTAGE
Ignition ON.
Press the AUTOMATIC button.
Measure the voltage between the solar radiation sensor C287 pin 1, circuit 468 (BN) and pin 5, circuit 398
(BK/YE).
Is the voltage between 4.7 and 5.1 volts?
Yes
INSTALL a new RCC module. TEST the system for normal
operation.
No
If diagnosing DTC 1260, GO to
D3
. If diagnosing DTC 1261,
GO to
D5
.
D3 CHECK CIRCUIT 468 (BN) FOR AN OPEN
Ignition OFF.
Disconnect: RCC Module C228.
Measure the resistance between the RCC module C228 pin 6, circuit 468 (BN) and the solar radiation
sensor C287 pin 1, circuit 468 (BN).
Yes
GO to
D4
.
No
REPAIR circuit 468 (BN) for an open. TEST the system for
normal operation.
