What is a ketone warning?
When your blood glucose result is higher than 240 mg/dL (13.3 mmol/L), the meter
displays the blood glucose reading as well as a Ketone warning (flashing KETONE
and
” ”). The ketone warning is to notify you that you may be at risk of elevated
Ketone levels, and a Ketone test is recommended.

Can hematocrit levels affect the result?
Hematocrit levels can affect results whether the sample is obtained from a forearm or
a finger stick. You should refer to the specification of each BGM
’s Haematocrit
tolerance range. For example,
suppose the meter’s hematocrit tolerance range is
30% to 55%. In that case, that indicates hematocrit levels less than 30% may cause
falsely high readings, and hematocrit levels greater than 55% may cause falsely low
readings. If the patient does not know their hematocrit level, they should consult their
health care professional.
