Surface Wind
The Surface Wind overlay places a six-inch diameter circle on the map showing the wind vector. The
aircraft heading is displayed at the bottom of the page. See Figure 3-44. The wind direction and velocity
can be changed by moving the wind vector within the circle or by entering the data using the data entry
button.
The concentric rings indicate velocity with the inner rings being lower speed and increasing toward the
outer rings. The axes indicate the surface wind direction.
To enter a new surface wind speed and direction, touch the page at the desired location. An
arrow appears to point the direction of the wind. The length of the arrow indicates wind
speed.

Select the Direction data entry button. A data entry keypad will appear. Enter in the desired
wind direction. Select the Velocity data entry button. A data entry keypad will appear. Enter
in the desired wind velocity.
The Rounding button is used to select surface wind variations in 15 degree increments.
Select the OK direct entry button to reset the wind and enter the new setting into the session.
To remove the Surface Wind overlay, select the CANCEL button.
