Compressor unit for tyre pressure control system
Activation/deactivation
If the main switch on the control unit of the tyre
pressure control system is set to ON, the compressor
unit is set to automatic mode, meaning that the system
switches on and off automatically. If the switch is set to
OFF position, this also deactivates the system during
compressor operation.
Establishing operational readiness
For the system to be operational, the control unit in the
cab must be set to ON. In addition, the tractor engine
must be running so that the necessary hydraulic oil
flow is available. If the current pressure in the auxiliary
reservoir is less than 4 bar, the compressor starts up
immediately and supplies air until the reservoir
pressure exceeds approx. 7.5 bar.
System operation
The compressor unit generally operates automatically.
If an air requirements exists, the compressor cuts in
automatically and supplies air until the desired tyre
pressure is reached. It then switches itself back off
again. This is enabled by an electro-pneumatic
compressor switch, which is pneumatically connected
to the auxiliary reservoir of the compressor.

Auxiliary air reservoir
The electric main switch on the RDS control unit in the cab enables manual
deactivation of the compressor at any time, even during operation.
If the maximum speed is exceeded, this will result in irreparable damage to the
compressor. Before first use, the maximum compressor speed must be checked
(again) with the relevant vehicle.
The non-return function of the overflow valve prevents the compressor from feeding
air into the brake reservoir.
If the compressor pressure drops below 4 bar overnight, the compressor switch will
activate the hydraulic solenoid valve. This can drain the tractor battery.
Therefore, when parking the vehicle, set the main switch on the RDS control unit to
OFF position, or disconnect the power supply to the RDS by detaching the main
power cable.
