Extinguishing
To extinguish unit: stop adding fuel and close all the vents and the lid to allow the fire to die naturally.
Do not use water to extinguish the charcoal as this could damage the ceramic charcoal barbecue.
Storage
When not in use, and if stored outside, cover the ceramic charcoal barbecue once completely cooled with a
suitable weather protection cover (you can buy the suitable size at theBBQshop.de). Make sure that the weather
protection cover is removed from the device at least once a week to allow any moisture that has entered the
device, due to condensation or similar, to dry off. We recommend to store the ceramic charcoal grill under a roof,
in a garage or shed during the winter for better protection. If moisture comes into contact with the Kamado
while it is stored outside in cold conditions, this can damage the ceramic.
Cleaning and maintenance
The ceramic charcoal barbecue is self-cleaning. Heat it up to 260 ºC / 500 ºF for 30 minutes and it will scorch off
all leftovers. Then remove the stainless steel grids and clean them with a non-abrasive cleaning agent, warm
water and a rubber sponge.
Important: Do not use water or other types of cleaning agents to clean the inside of the ceramic charcoal
grill. The walls are porous and absorb all liquids. This would lead to cracks in the ceramic charcoal grill.
After the ceramic charcoal grill has cooled down, and if too much ash has accumulated, use the ash tool
(optionally available at theBBQshop.de) to scrape out the coal residues before the next use. Carefully open the
bottom vent and rake the soot into a small waste container under the vent opening. Dispose of container, or
store for future use (soot).
To clean the outer surface, wait until the ceramic charcoal barbecue is cool and use a damp cloth with a mild
detergent. It is important to check and tighten the body and lid ring, and oil the hinges, twice a year or more if
needed. Check the nuts regularly and tighten them if necessary.
