Probes
Various probe models are available for measurements on objects with dif-
ferent shapes and different surface properties. Special probes with different
measurement ranges are available for the following areas of application,
for example:
particularly rough or abrasive surfaces
Particularly soft surfaces
damp, acidic contamination on the surface
particularly thick or thin coatings
hot surfaces
Coatings in pipes and bore holes
For available probe models and the probe model best suited for your ap-
plication, see the respective probe data sheets. You can obtain this data
sheets from FISCHER or from your authorized supplier.
All probes that can be connected to the instrument are
equipped with a memory chip, a so-called EEPROM, in
their connector plug. Probe-specific information (such as
probe type, production number, measurement method or
coefficients of the master characteristic, for example) is
stored permanently - even without power supply - in this
memory chip, which can be overwritten as many times as
desired.
When powering up the instrument, this information is au-
tomatically retrieved and processed by the instrument; the
instrument “recognizes” the connected probe.
Correct measurements can be performed only if the probe
that is assigned to the open Application is used for the
measurement.
