7.12 Backing up product or Def.MA files
Backing up product or
Def.MA files
Product or Def.MA files can be backed up by copying them to a
different folder of the hard disk or of the network environment or
onto a diskette. Product files can be backed up with or without data.
Select the menu command “Product > Copy from / to file” to start
the backup procedure.
7.13 Reference samples
Reference samples
Reference samples (working standards) are specimen with a clearly
defined reference area with a known coating thickness or
composition. Reference samples may be finished parts from one’s
own or someone else’s production that have been measured with a
well and properly calibrated instrument.
Reference samples can be used, for example, to monitor the
measurement devices.
The coating thickness or the composition should be uniform across
the reference area. The reference sample should also exhibit the
same properties (substrate material, composition of coating or
substrate material, etc.) as the specimen for which the product file
has been set up.
