CoaXPress
®
Overview
CoaXPress
®
is a standard protocol of communication widely used in industrial vision applications. This
standard is developed by the Japan Industrial Imaging Association. The version 2.0 was released in May
2019. This new version supports bit rates up to 12.5 Gbps per cable.
CoaXPress
®
uses GenICam standard (abbreviation of Generic Interface Camera) which defines
standard registers and access for the communication with the camera. GenICam is developed by the
European Machine Vision association.
The C-BLUE One camera needs two CoaXPress
®
links for normal operation. The camera uses one
Master connection and one Extension connection as defined in CoaXPress
®
standards, as illustrated in
the two figures below. This configuration enables to operate the full bandwidth of the sensor.
The Master connection is indicated by digit 0 and the Extension connection is indicated by digit 1.
Schematic of the two CoaXPress® links required in the configuration implemented in C-BLUE One.
Each connection (Master and Extension) provides:
A high-speed downlink of 10 Gbps (camera to frame grabber)
A low-speed uplink at 41.6 Mbps speed (frame grabber to camera)
Up to 13 watts of power (PoCXP) delivered by the Host (
i.e
., the frame grabber)
