Function and application
A plunger attached to the toothed belt pretension test equipment makes the toothed belt oscillate by applying a force
stimulus. The natural frequency of the toothed belt generated in this way is recorded using a meter and displayed as a
frequency value in hertz.
The freely oscillating toothed belt strand length defined by the toothed belt pretension test equipment enables accurate
comparison of the specified measured values without the risk of measuring errors during positioning of the slide/piston.
This toothed belt pretension test equipment can be used for the following toothed belt axes:
•
DGE-25/40/63-ZR(-KF)
•
DGE-25/40/63-ZR-RF
•
EGC-…-TB-KF
•
ELGA-TB-G-70/80/120

Storage
Store the toothed belt pretension test equipment in a dry place where it is protected from corrosion, ideally in the match-
ing Systainer (see section
9 “Accessories and ordering data”

Test requirements
Warning
Checking and setting the toothed belt pretension is only required and permissible after a new toothed belt is installed.
The pretension of the toothed belt diminishes during storage and operation.
This is a normal process and not an
indication of wear. Retensioning the toothed belt can result in premature wear.
Before the toothed belt pretension can be measured, the slide/piston must be moved back and forth a number of
times to allow the toothed belt to fully settle and differences in tension to be equalised.
Checking and setting the toothed belt pretension must only be performed on toothed belt axes whose electric power
units have been disconnected.
The information in the corresponding repair instructions for the respective toothed belt axis apply to the steps described
in these operating instructions.
