Squeeze the throttle lever (Fig. 1/pos. 18), then immediately activate the chain
brake lever (Fig. 6/pos. 3).

CAUTION
Activate the chain brake slowly and deliberately. Keep the chain from touching any-
thing, don’t let the saw tip forward.

Chain should stop abruptly. When it does, immediately release the throttle lever.

CAUTION
If chain does not stop, turn engine off and take your unit to the nearest Authorized
Service Centre for service.
7.
If the chain brake functions properly, turn the engine off and return the chain
brake to the
DISENGAGED position.
Air Filter

NOTICE
Never operate the saw without the air filter. Dust and dirt will be drawn into the
engine and damage it. Keep the air filter clean! The air filter must be cleaned or re-
placed after every 20 hours of service.
Cleaning the air filter
1.
Ensure the stop switch (Fig. 8/pos. 19) is set to ‘0’ stop.
2.
Remove the air filter cover (Fig. 23/pos. 5) by removing the fastening knob (Fig.
23/pos. A). You can then remove the cover (Fig. 24/pos. 5)
.

Lift out the air filter (Fig. 25/pos. B).
4.
Clean the air filter. Wash the filter in clean, warm, soapy water.
Rinse in clear, cool water. Air dry completely before refitting.
It is advisable to have a supply of spare filters (Available from special deal-
ers).
5.
Insert the air filter (Fig. 25/pos. B). Refit the air filter cover. Make sure that the air
filter cover (Fig. 23/pos. 5) fits perfectly.
