3. Installation:
Reader ID RW01 is designed to be installed into a casing. The installation place should be se-
lected carefully - the data carrier should be hold area-parallel to the antenna.
The contactless data transmission of the OBID
®
system is based on magnetic fields, which spread
the surrounding of the antenna and the distance between antenna and OBID
®
-data carrier. Mag-
netic fields can penetrate nearly each material without loss. Conducting materials as metal, water
or other conducting liquids or metalliferous surfaces (special glasses) influence the magnetic field.
When planning the system this factors must be considered - distance of minimum 3 cm from the
reader antenna to conducting materials. Otherwise, the reading range will be decreased.

Before installing the reader in metal-walls or metal casings please discuss the procedure with the
manufacturer.
4. Operation:
The reader has no operating or indicating elements. It can be configured according to the individ-
ual conditions by the RS232 interface (see: "System Manual - Standard-Reader ID RW-Family").
