Grease Mainshaft Bearings
To grease the mainshaft bearings:
1.
While the gate arm is in the down position, open the enclosure door and remove the
enclosure cap. See “Removing the Enclosure Cap” on page 16.
2.
Use a grease gun to inject heavy-duty synthetic grease into the grease fitting on each
bearing housing.
Grease the Connection Rod Bearings
To grease the connection rod bearings:
1.
Advance the gate to the up position. See “Locking, Unlocking, and Advancing the
Gate Arm” on page 49.
2.
Remove the enclosure door and cap. See “Removing the Enclosure Cap” on
page 16.
3.
Have another technician hold the gate arm in the up position.
Holding the gate arm in the up position is necessary to avoid serious
injury and damage to the gate. Once the connecting rod is removed,
the gate arm is no longer balanced and can easily fall from the up
position.
