Gate Arm
The size of the standard PosiDRIVE gate arm (Figure 1.7, on page 13) ranges from 10 to
20 feet (3.05 m to 6 m) in length and is constructed of extruded aluminum. It is finished
with white powder coat paint with reflective striping. The gate arm is 4 inches (100mm)
in diameter and extends from the gate cabinet at a height of approximately 36 inches (91
cms) from the mounting surface.
The standard gate arm is hollow and has molded plastic pieces that attach at the ends of
the gate arm to prevent snow, ice, or debris from building up inside the gate arm. It is
internally counterbalanced with two, three, or four adjustable extension mainsprings,
depending on the length of the arm. The mainsprings balance the weight of the gate arm,
reducing the power requirement by the motor. See “Setting the Mainsprings” on
page 38.
The PosiDRIVE gate can also support a folding gate arm (Figure 1.8, on page 14) for
locations that have restricted overhead clearance. The standard folding gate arm is 10 ft.
(3.05 m) in length and is constructed of clear white pine. It is finished in diagonal stripes
of black and white enamel.

Standard Gate Arm
Power Supply Unit that provides the 24 VDC power required by all
components of the PosiDRIVE gate. The PosiDRIVE power
supply can accept input voltages ranging from 85 VAC to
264 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz.
