Targetless Strategy
To ensure there is enough overlap between scans, you will need to take
more scans than for
Target Based
registration. While this adds time to
the scan project, the fact that you don’t need to arrange and move targets
also saves time.
It is best to use a linear approach and locate each subsequent scanner
position adjacent to the previous scan position.
Targetless registration requires at least 30 percent overlap between scans.
To ensure adequate overlap, locate each subsequent scanner position
within range of the previous scanner position.

The Detail with an Overview strategy involves capturing a low-
resolution overview scan of an entire area, and then scanning a smaller
area at a higher resolution.
