4.2.2 RPM CALCULATION
This function calculates the revolutions per minute required to obtain a programmed
cutting speed on the radial axis or it calculates the resulting cutting speed on the radial
axis from a given rpm value.
This calculation can be carried out either with absolute or incremental position values
(coordinates).
Follow these steps to select this function:
*
Press
and select “SPECIAL FUNCTIONS”.
*
Select “RPM CALCULATION”.
Indicate the two axes which form the main axes where the cone calculation will be
carried out.
Once this function has been selected, select the radial axis on which the rpms must be
calculated
The following parameters must be defined for this calculation:
P
Indicates the current position values in ABS. or INC. where the calculation will
take place.
In order to obtain the correct results, it is necessary that the Part Zero or Floating
Zero coincide with the part’s center line. This way, the value entered here will
match that of the radius of the part at this point.
This value can be keyed in directly from the keyboard or by touching the part
with the tool tip at the measuring point and then pressing
.
The bottom of the screen will show the position value of the selected axIs.
V
Indicates the cutting speed at the calculation point (Velocity).
This value can be given in meters/minute or feet/minute.
Press the CHANGE UNIT softkey to change these units.
If a value is assigned to this parameter, the DRO will calculate the rpms necessary
to obtain this cutting speed. Therefore, the “R” value will have to be left with no
value.
If, on the other hand, the cutting speed in m/rev or feet/rev. is to be calculated; then,
this parameter must be unassigned and the “R” value will have to be defined.
