Oil specifications: For general use (5°C - 38°C) the rec
-
ommended oil is 4-stroke engine oil SAE 15W40(Fig.
3).
Engine oil capacity: Refer to “TECHNICAL DATA TA-
BLE”
To fill the engine with oil:
1.
Remove the oil filler cap (Fig. 4.1) from the engine
oil filler neck (Fig. 4.2). The bottom part of it is the
oil level indicator.
2. Gradually add enough oil to bring the oil level to
the lip of the oil filler neck, up to the upper level
(Fig. 4.3) and not lower than the lower level (Fig.
4.4).
3.
Reposition the oil filler cap and tighten appropri
-
ately.
WARNING
Use a funnel in order to avoid spilling fuel or oil. Wipe
off any spilled fuel and oil before starting the engine.
To connect the battery, applies only to models with
electric start:
1. Open the battery panel.
2. Remove the battery from its position.
3.
Connect the positive (red) cable to the positive
pole of the battery.
4.
Connect the positive (black) negative to the nega
-
tive pole of the battery.
5. Reposition the battery and its panel.
STARTING THE UNIT
Before starting the machine:
f
Make sure both the machine and you are on stable
ground.
f
Check that all the fasteners are secured in position.
f
Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
Never start or stop the generator with electrical
devices plugged in or turned on.
f
Check that the air filter is clean and that the air in
-
take and exhaust are not clogged by any foreign
materials.
f
Fill with the required quantity of oil and fuel.
To start the machine:
1. Open the fuel valve, located on the bottom side
of the fuel tank.
2.
Move the choke lever (Fig. 5) to the “CHOKE” po
-
sition.
NOTE
This step applies only to cold starting of the engine.
When the engine is already warm or the environment
temperature is high, the choke lever must remain at
"RUN" position at all times.
3.
Grip firmly the handle of the machine with your
left hand and the starter grip (Fig. 6.2) of the en
-
gine with your right hand. Pull the starter grip un-
til you feel resistance to engage the engine and
then pull firmly to start the engine.
WARNING
To avoid breaking the starter rope (Fig. 6.1), do not pull
the whole length of it or let it slide along the edge of
the cable guide hole. Release the starter gradually, to
avoid letting it fly back uncontrollably.
NOTE:
For machines with electric ignition, you can use the igni-
tion switch instead, by pushing it briefly until the engine
starts.
4. As the engine warms up, move the choke lever to
the "RUN" position, if the engine was cold started.
NOTE
For maximum performance and reliability, allow the en-
gine to warm up before operating at full load, running
it for two to three minutes at idle speed.
MAIN SWITCH
f
OFF: The ignition circuit is switched off. The engine
will not run.
f
ON: The ignition circuit is switched ON. The engine
can run.
Low oil sensor
When the oil level falls below the lower level, the low
oil sensor is enganged and then the engine stops au-
tomatically. Unless you refill with oil, the engine will
not start again.
THERMAL PROTECTION
The thermal protection is engaged when an over-
load of a connected electrical device is detected.
stopping power generation in order to protect the
generator and any connected electric devices. When
the thermal protection comes on and power genera-
tion stops, proceed as follows:
1.
Turn off any connected electric devices and stop
the engine.
2. Reduce the total wattage of connected electric
devices within the rated output.
3. Check for blockages in the cooling air inlet and
around the control unit. If any blockages are
found, remove them.
4. Turn on the protector by pressing it back into po-
sition.
5. After checking, restart the engine.
WARNING
If the thermal protection engages again, stop using the
device immediately and consult our company autho-
rized dealer.
GROUND TERMINAL
Ground terminal connects the earth line for pre-
vention of electric shock. When the electric device
is earthed, always the generator must be earthed.
In order to prevent electric shock due to shoddy
electrical appliances or wrong use of electricity, the
generator must be grounded with a good quality in-
sulated conductor.
STOPPING THE UNIT
To stop the machine:
1.
Turn off and unplug all electrical loads.
WARNING
Never start or stop the generator with electrical devices
plugged in or turned on.
2. Let the generator run at no-load for several min-
utes, to stabilize internal temperatures of the en-
gine and the generator.
3. Turn the main switch to “OFF” position. Ignition
circuit is switched on.
4.
Turn the fuel valve off.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
WARNING
Never do maintenance or cleaning with the unit run-
