Power On Sequence
Before powering on the Vortex verify that the
proper electrical connection has been made as
outlined in Chapter 3 – Unpacking & Installation.
Use the following sequence to power on the
Vortex.
•
Turn on main power switch located on
the right side cover of the machine.
•
Pull up the red E-Stop button located on
the front cover.
•
Press reset to retract the head and
move the spindle to the start angle.
Sequence of Operation
Once the parameters in Chapter 5 – Recipe
Setup have been specified you may run a part.
The sequence below describes a basic sequence
only including the operator actions. The flow
chart on the following pages describes the
sequence in more detail and includes operator
and machine actions.
•
Load the lower part into the lower tool.
•
Load the upper part using the upper
load mode that you specified.
o
Vacuum – Load the upper part
into the upper tool and press
the “Load Upper” button.
o
Vac Pickup – Load the upper
part onto the lower part.
o
Detent – Load the upper part
into the upper tool.
•
Activate the dual opto-touch start
buttons to begin the cycle.
•
Continue to hold the dual opto-touch
start buttons until the head is
completely down.
o
Once the head is down (and the
safety trigger is activated per
the setup procedure in Chapter
5) you may release your hands
from the start buttons and the
machine will complete its cycle
without interruption.
o
If you release your hands from
the dual opto-touch start
buttons before the head is
completely down the head will
immediately stop. Press reset to

rotating.

Do not operate with guard
removed. Follow lockout
procedures before servicing.
