Climate system
6.4.1
Fan filters
Background:
The MetalJet D2+ source is equipped with a number of fans to keep different parts cool during
operation. These fans have filters to avoid dust particles from entering the system. In order to keep the cooling
performance of these fans at a sufficient level it is important to inspect the filters regularly.
There are in total five fan filters on the MetalJet D2+ source:
Two are on the back plate of the electron gun (60x60 mm).
One is on the side of the pump box (119x119 mm).
Two are on the back of the x-ray system controller unit (60x60 mm).
Excillum recommendation:
Inspect fan filters with a 6 month interval and if necessary clean or exchange them
for new ones.

6.4.2
Cooling water
Background:
The MetalJet D2+ source requires cooling water to maintain the correct operation temperature
for the turbopump and the jet system. It comes with the option of using an Excillum supplied water cooler
which is integrated into our software or an independent water cooler.
Excillum strongly recommends the integrated solution for increased temperature stability and ease of use.
Excillum recommendation:
MetalJet D2+ systems equipped with the integrated Excillum supplied water cooler
automatically monitor flow rates and detect when the water reservoir needs to be refilled. Therefore, no
inspection interval is necessary when water cooling is provided by Excillum.
Customers using external water coolers should ensure sufficient water flow by inspecting water levels
periodically based on manufacturer recommendations.
