Figure 4-13: Client Notification of JAR Update from Server
4.6.1.2. Applying a JAR Update to the Client-Only Version of VistaLINK® Pro
The client-only version of Vista
LINK
®
Pro runs as a standalone client which does not require a
Vista
LINK
®
server to connect to. It is available as a free download from the Evertz website
) and supports basic configuration and monitoring features. In order to update the
client-only version, it must first be shut down. The JAR file must then be copied into the
“
lib\products
” directory located in the installation folder. This is usually “
C:\Program
Files\VistaLinkPro\lib\products
”. If the JAR file already exists, it should be overwritten.
Once the JAR file has been successfully copied, it may be required to find and delete the
“
VistaLinkAgentStandaloneInfo.xml
” file from the “
config
” directory. This file may have the
“hidden” attribute turned on. In a typical installation the file is normally located at “
C:\Program
Files\VistaLinkPro\config\
”. This file is generated automatically at startup and does not contain
any critical information. Once all the steps have been complete, restart the Vista
LINK
®
standalone client
and the 5601MSC should appear in the Version Information dialog (see Figure 4-9 and Figure 4-10).
4.6.2. VistaLINK® Pro Control Screens for the 5601MSC
When the Vista
LINK
®
Pro software has been updated with the latest JAR, the client should
automatically detect any 5601MSC units connected to the network during the next discovery. Open the
“Tree” menu and select “Refresh” to perform a network discovery immediately. Discovered devices are
displayed on the left side of the screen in the Navigation Tree under the Hardware node. If the
navigation tree is not visible, make sure it has not been hidden by opening the “Tree” menu and
selecting “Hide/Show Tree”. If the hardware node is not visible, check that it is enabled in the “Tree”
menu under “Properties…”. The 5601MSC should show up as a 1RU network graphic, listed by its IP
address:
. The network tree entry for the 5601MSC can be renamed to any helpful
description by choosing the “Update Description…” menu item.
