OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Item no. 672590 / Version 12/11
INTENDED USE
The jumbo radio wall clock is intended for displaying the DCF radio clock time, a calendar overview
with calendar week as well as the indoor temperature. In addition, the clock has an alarm and
reminder function for appointments.
The DCF radio signal from the caesium atomic clock in Braunschweig is decoded and the time as
well as the date can be set automatically using the inbuilt DCF receiver. Naturally, it is also possible
to make the settings manually.
The radio wall clock may only be used in closed rooms. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with mois-
ture, for example in bathrooms, must be avoided.
The jumbo radio wall clock with calendar overview is designed exclusively for battery operation.
Do not use any other power supply. The correct battery type is specifi ed in the “Technical Data”
section.
Any use other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product. In addition, it
can lead to dangers such as short-circuit, fi re and electrical shock.

INSERTING/REPLACING BATTERIES/RECHARGEABLE
BATTERIES
-
Open the battery compartment (C2) on the back of the wall clock and insert three batteries of
type C/Baby, observing the correct polarity.
Immediately after the batteries are inserted, the jumbo radio wall clock emits an audible signal
and begins a reception search for the DCF signal.
-
Close the battery compartment (C2) again.
The batteries must be replaced if the display contrast fades or if there is no display at all.
The use of rechargeable batteries leads to a shorter operating time, because of the lower
voltage and capacity.
GETTING STARTED
After inserting the batteries correctly, proceed as follows:
-
The radio tower symbol for searching the DCF signal blinks in the display (A5).
-
Mount the wall clock as far away as possible from electric/electronic devices, cable, sockets or
metal parts. These have a negative infl uence on the DCF-signal, which could prevent the wall
clock from setting automatically. Poor reception can also be caused, for example, by metallised
insulated glass, reinforced concrete construction design, coated special wallpaper or in base-
ments.
-
The wall clock is designed to receive and evaluate the so-called DCF signal.
This is a signal which is sent by a transmitter in Mainfl ingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is
up to 1500 km and, under ideal reception conditions, even up to 2000 km.
Inter alia the DCF signal contains the exact time of day (accuracy is theoretically 1 second in 1
million years!) and the date.
This means there is no complicated manual setting needed for summer and winter time.
