INTENDED USE

The jumbo radio wall clock shows the DCF radio clock time, the date, and the indoor and outdoor
temperature. The outside temperature is measured with a separate external sensor that transmits
the values to the wall clock by radio.

The DCF radio signal of the caesium atomic clock in Braunschweig is decoded and the time as well
as the date can be automatically set through the built-in DCF receiver. Naturally, a manual setting
is also possible.

The radio wall clock must be used only in closed rooms. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with mois-
ture, for example in bathrooms, must be avoided.

The jumbo radio wall clock with indoor and outdoor temperature display is designed exclusively
for battery operation. Do not use any other power supply. The correct battery type is specifi ed in
the “Technical Data” section.

Any use other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product. In addition, it
can lead to dangers such as short-circuit, fi re and electrical shock.

This product complies with the applicable National and European regulations.

NOTES ON BATTERIES AND RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES

-

Batteries/rechargeable batteries do not belong in the hands of children.

-

Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk that they could be

swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.

-

Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, in contact with the skin can cause acid

burns, therefore, use suitable protective gloves.

-

Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fi re.

There is a risk of explosion!

-

Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion! Only charge

rechargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose; use suitable rechargeable battery
chargers.

-

Never mix normal batteries with rechargeable ones or batteries with different charge level.

-

Check that the polarity is correct, when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay

attention to plus/+ and minus/-).

INSERTING/REPLACING BATTERIES/RECHARGEABLE
BATTERIES

-

Open the battery compartment of the outside sensor (D3) by removing the four screws of the

battery compartment cover. Do not insert batteries yet.

-

Open the battery compartment (C2) on the back of the wall clock and insert three batteries of

type C/Baby, observing the correct polarity.

Immediately after the batteries are inserted, the jumbo radio wall clock emits a tone signal and
begins a reception search for the DCF signal.

-

Close the battery compartment (C2) again.

Then the radio symbol blinks at the lower right of the display; the wall clock searches for the
outside sensor.

-

Now insert two batteries of type AA / Mignon with the correct polarity into the outside sensor.



Observe the correct order in inserting the batteries. First in the jumbo radio wall clock,
then in the outdoor sensor. Otherwise transmission problems can occur.

The batteries must be replaced if the display contrast fades or if there is no display at all.



The use of rechargeable batteries leads to a shorter operating time, because of the lower
voltage and capacity. If using rechargeable batteries for the outside sensor, observe that
rechargeables respond more sensitively to low temperature; the operating time is signifi -
cantly reduced by this.
