INTENDED USE
The product is intended for displaying the time of day; in addition, there is an integrated alarm
function.
By means of the integrated DCF-receiver the time of day can be set automatically and, of course,
also manually.
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating in-
structions.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these
safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential damage!
Nor do we assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper
use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases the warranty will
be null and void.

For safety and licensing (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cations of the
product are not permitted. Never dismantle the product.

The product is intended exclusively for use in dry interiors; it must not get damp or wet.

This product is not a toy and does not belong in the hands of children. Only use the product out
of the reach of children; the product contains parts that can be swallowed as well as a battery.

Do not leave the packaging materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings for
children.

Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops, even
from a low height.
NOTES ON BATTERIES AND RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES

Batteries/rechargeable batteries do not belong in the hands of children

Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk they could be swal-
lowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.

Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, in contact with the skin can cause acid
burns, therefore, use suitable protective gloves.

Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fi re.
There is a risk of explosion!

Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries, risk of explosion! Only charge recharge-
able batteries that are intended for this purpose; use suitable rechargeable battery chargers.

Please pay attention to the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the battery.
INSERTING / REPLACING BATTERY
Open the battery compartment on the rear and insert a battery of type AA/Mignon, paying atten-
tion to the correct polarity. Close the battery compartment.
After inserting the battery, the radio alarm clock attempts to receive the DCF signal (see chapter
“Getting Started”).
The battery needs changing if there are sudden, large time deviations, if the radio alarm clock
stops or the lighting does not work any longer.
A rechargeable battery may be used, but due to the lower voltage output (rechargeable
battery = 1.2V, standard battery = 1.5V) and the lower capacity, the service life is shorter.
GETTING STARTED
Directly after inserting the battery (or after manually starting a DCF reception attempt, see below)
the radio controlled alarm clock fi rst attempts to receive the DCF-signal. The clock hands move to
the “12.00 o’clock” position and then, the alarm clock searches for the DCF signal. This can take
up to 10 minutes.
Place the radio controlled alarm clock on a stable, fl at surface. Protect the surface of valuable
furniture by using an appropriate underlay, otherwise it may cause scratches. Do not move the
radio-controlled clock while it is searching for the DCF signal. Do not press any buttons.
If the radio controlled alarm clock does not indicate the correct time after 10 minutes, change the
location of the radio-controlled alarm clock and restart the reception attempt (see the chapter
“Starting DCF reception manually”).
Poor reception can be expected, for example, with metalized insulated glass, reinforced
concrete buildings, special coated wallpaper or in cellars.
The radio controlled alarm clock performs several reception attempts per day. A single successful
reception attempt per day is suffi cient for displaying the time correctly.
STARTING DCF RECEPTION MANUALLY
Hold the button “WAVE” on the rear pressed down for more than 3 seconds. Alternatively, you
also can remove the battery for a short time, and then reinsert it again. For DCF reception, please
consult the chapter “Getting Started”.
SETTING THE TIME OF DAY MANUALLY

Press and hold the “SET” key on the rear for more than 3 seconds, to activate the manual set-
ting mode and to set the time.

Keeping the “SET” key pressed for a longer time, enables continuous adjustment of the time.
If this key is only pressed briefl y, the minute hand moves by 1 minute each time.
The manual setting mode ends, if you do not press any buttons for 6 seconds.
ALARM FUNCTION
a) Setting the alarm
To set the alarm time, rotate the control knob on the alarm clock’s rear counter clockwise (pay
attention to the arrow next to the control knob). The hand for the alarm time will move accordingly.
b) Switching the alarm function on/off
The alarm function can be switched on or off with the sliding switch on the rear (switch position
“ON” or “OFF”).
When the alarm function is activated, the second hand stops once it reaches the “12.00
o’clock” position again. Thus, the quiet ticking sound of the second hand, which can dis-
turb sleep, is stopped.
If the alarm function is turned off, the second hand only will start to run again when the
hand position matches the internal time.
c) Stopping the alarm signal
At the set alarm time, an alarm signal is sounded (Crescendo-alarm, the alarm gets faster). To
stop the alarm signal, switch the alarm function off (move the sliding switch on the rear to the
“OFF” position).
b) Snooze function
When the alarm signal sounds at the set alarm time, press the top right button on the front of the
radio controlled alarm clock. The light is activated for 3 seconds and the alarm signal stops. After
4 - 5 minutes, the alarm signal will sound again. The snooze function can be activated several
times, but only up to max. 45 minutes after the set alarm time.
ACTIVATING THE LIGHT
If you press the round button on the top right at the alarm clock’s front, the light will be activated
for 3 seconds.
RESET
If the radio controlled alarm clock does not react or if you notice malfunctions, press the “RESET”
button on the alarm clock’s rear (e.g. press the button with a toothpick).
Alternatively, you can remove the battery for a few minutes. Afterwards, the radio controlled
alarm clock starts DCF reception, see chapter “Getting Started”.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any reason.
Please use a soft, dry, clean cloth for cleaning. Do not apply too much pressure on the casing, as
it may be damaged. Furthermore, it could be scratched.
Do not use any chemical cleaning agents, they can discolour the plastic housing.
DISPOSAL
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household
waste!
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the current statu-
tory requirements.
b) Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
The end user is legally obliged (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries and rechargeable
batteries. Do not dispose of used batteries in the household waste!
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols to indi-
cate that disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The symbols for the relevant heavy
metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (the labelling is visible on the battery/
rechargeable battery e.g. under the refuse bin symbol shown on the left).
You can dispose of your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at your
community’s collection point or any place where batteries/rechargeable batteries are
sold!
You thereby fulfi l your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
