DCF RECEPTION

Attempts to receive the DCF signal for daily automatic synchronisation are made at
2 a.m. and 3 a.m at night.  One successful reception attempt per day is suffi cient to
keep the deviation to less than 1 second.

The DCF signal is transmitted via a transmitter
in Mainfl ingen (near Frankfurt). Its range is up
to 1500 km and, under ideal reception condi-
tions, even up to 2000 km.

Among other things, the DCF signal includes
the precise time (theoretical deviation of 1 sec-
ond in a million years!) and the date.

Naturally, this also eliminates the hassle of
manually setting summer and winter time.

If your watch does not display the correct time when it is delivered to you, the DCF
receiver has to be set manually.

Manual reception setting

-

Press the push-button (B) with a pointed object, for more than 3 seconds.

-

The hour and minute hands move to the 12 o‘clock position.

-

If this does not happen, please proceed as described in “Positioning the hands”.

-

If DCF reception is possible, the reception display fl ashes in the display (C) and

the second display will start to run shortly after.

-

The hands automatically set themselves to the current time, after successful

DCF reception.



The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 2-5 minutes. Do
not move the watch during this time. Do not push any buttons!

Poor reception is to be expected, for example, where there are vaporised
metal-insulated glass windows, reinforced concrete buildings or coated spe-
cial wallpapers, in proximity to electronic devices, or in cellars.

If the hands are not set to the current time after 10 minutes, change the
reception location of the watch and start a new reception attempt, as
described above.

Positioning the hands

If the hour and minute hands do not run exactly to the 12 o’clock position when mak-
ing a reception attempt, positioning must be performed manually.

-

Press buttons (A) and (B) with a pointed object for more than 3 seconds.

-

   The display shows “H”.

-

Press button (A) again; the hands can now be moved manually. If you press brief-

ly, this moves the hands gradually. If you press for longer, the hands begin to run
automatically and you can stop this process by pressing (A) again.

-

When the hands have reached the 12 o‘clock position, press the push-button (B)

within 9 seconds. The display (C) changes to “S”.

-

You can now also adjust the second hand to the 12 o‘clock position, by using the

push-button (A).

-

Press the push-button (B) with a pointed object for more than 3 seconds.

-

The watch starts an attempt to receive the DCF signal.

-

The watch automatically sets itself to the correct time, after successful recep-

tion.
