4.13 Running a Program in Auto Mode
4.13.1 Select the Part Program or Nest
Selecting the desired program or nest is done in one of three ways:
1. Press the
【
ENTER
】
key, then type in the name of the program. Be sure to include the period at
the end of the name. The CNC will look in its program storage memory for matches to that name
with the file extensions “.TXT” or “.CNC”.
2. Use the LOAD function in the Edit Menu. Refer to Section 4.22.2
3. Create a new program using the Shape Library. Refer to Section 4.25
4.13.2 Set Cutting Speed
Before starting a program in the Auto Mode, the cutting speed should be set to the proper speed for the
material type and thickness, depending on what cutting process setup is used. Look for the proper oxy-
fuel torch cutting speeds or plasma cutting speeds in Appendix 3 and Appendix 4.
The Cutting Speed is the result of the Max Cutting Speed (see Setup Menu) multiplied by the Feed
Rate Override Percentage. It can be changed by increasing or decreasing the Feed Rate Override
Percentage using the
【
F↑
】
and
【
F↓
】
keys, or it can be entered directly by pressing the
【
F
】
key
and then typing in the desired speed on the number keypad.
The Feed Rate Override Percentage is permanently saved and is not cleared when the power is turned
off.
4.13.3 Move To Starting Position
Before starting the selected program, the torch should be moved to the required starting position on the
plate. Us the Arrow Keys to jog the torch to the appropriate location. The Program Coordinates will
automatically be reset to zero when the program is started, the Program Zero point does not need to be
manually set.
4.13.4 Start Cutting
After the above preparations are complete, program execution is started by pressing the green
【
START
】
key
.
4.13.5 Arc Voltage Height Control Operation (Plasma Cutting)
The plasma Arc Voltage Height Control operates automatically when the plasma torch begins cutting.
To change the cutting height, press
【
S↑
】
or
【
S↓
】
during the first few seconds of the cut in order to
increase or reduce the cutting height. The Arc Voltage Height Control will then take over and maintain
the new height for the remainder of that cut, and for subsequent cuts.
