9. Turn on the printer.
To confirm that the memory module is installed correctly, print a
status sheet. When you install a 4 MB or 8 MB SIMM, the total
printer memory is the standard 2 MB plus the optional SIMM.
However, even if you install an optional 16 MB or 32 MB SIMM,
the total printer memory is increased to its maximum of 13 MB
only. If not, try reinstalling the module. Make sure that the
module is securely attached to the SIMM slot on the circuit board.

Removing
Follow these steps to remove a memory module:

Caution:
Before you remove a memory module, be sure to discharge any
static electricity by touching a grounded piece of metal.
Otherwise, you may damage static-sensitive components.

Warning:
Be careful when working inside the printer as some components
are sharp and may cause injury.
1. Follow steps 1 through 3 of “Installing” on page 103 to access
the circuit board.
2. Push the clips on each side of the slot outward to release the
memory module.
3. Grasp both sides of the memory module and pull the module
out.

Caution:
Do not remove any other modules from the circuit board.
Otherwise, the printer will not work.
