Chapter 2 

Printing Tasks

Loading Paper into Your Printer

This section describes how to load paper. If you use special media such as transparencies or 
envelopes, see also “Selecting and Using Print Media” on page 30. For specifications or details 
about the paper types and sizes, see “Paper” on page 197.

MP tray and standard lower paper cassette

The MP tray (Multi-purpose tray) and standard lower paper cassette are the paper sources that are 
available for various types of paper, such as labels, envelopes, thick paper, and transparencies.

Note:

To load envelopes, see “Envelopes” on page 31.

❏

MP tray can be set into the upper cassette slot only, and standard lower paper cassette can be set into the 
lower cassette slot only. Do not set into the different slot by force.

❏

The procedure for loading paper into the standard lower paper cassette is the same as that for the MP 
tray.

1. Pull out the MP tray.

Note:

When pulling out the standard lower paper cassette, raise it and pull it at an angle.
