4.2 Diagnostics Commander

4.2.1 Overview

In principle, the contents of the diagnostics commander should be
supported by the printer controller, so the description of the use of the
diagnostics commander given here is simply for a reference.

4.2.1.1 Configuration

This printer can execute, set diagnostics and various settings and do
the renewal (renewal) of FIRMWARE of MCU PWB using diagnostics
tools (maintenance tool.)

When configured as shown in the figure below, the printer operates the
diagnostics commander (an application software) on a personal
computer to send commands from the DIAG. PWB to the MCU PWB
and down load the FIRMWARE for execution.

NOTE: The combination of DIAG. PWB, DIAG HARNESS, RS-232C

cable, personal computer, and diagnostics commander is called
the diagnostics tool (Maintenance tool.)

The diagnostics tools supplied by SEIKO EPSON are shown in the
following table.
