3.1 Overview
This chapter describes procedures for disassembly, assembly, and adjustment
of the AcuLaser C8500. Note the procedures are applicable only when the
printer has no options installed. For information on removing/installing the
options, please see the AcuLaser C8500 Setup Guide.
3.1.1 Precautions for Disassembly, Assembly and
Adjustment
Precautions for disassembly, assembly and adjustment are as follows:
3.1.1.1 Precaution for Handling the Lithium Battery
A lithium battery is attached on the control board of this printer, AcuLase
C8500. It is used for backing up the system clock. If you don’t handle the
battery properly, it may cause the battery to short-circuit or explode. Therefore,
be sure to observe the precautions below when handling the lithium battery.
W A R N I N G
Before starting, be sure to turn the printer off and unplug
the power cable from the AC power socket.
As this printer weighs as much as 71.2Kg, make sure that
it is always carried carefully by 4 people or more.
When working on the FUSER ASSY or nearby parts, be
sure to wait until the temperature of the parts cool down
to a safe level.
When printing, make sure that all the outer covers are
installed.
In case you need to print before assembling, note the
cautions below:
1.Be careful not to get your hands and clothes caught in
the rotating parts such as rollers and cooling fans.
2.Never touch any electrical terminal or high voltage
components such as HVPS and LVPS.
C A U T I O N
When servicing, avoid handling any parts forcibly. Doing
so might damage the parts and cause printer
malfunction.
Various types of screws are used to assemble the printer,
and wrong usage might crush tapped hole and cause
troubles. Therefore, be sure to mount the right screws to
the specified positions.
W A R N I N G
Before starting, be sure to turn the printer off and unplug
the power cable from the AC power socket.
When replacing the lithium battery with a new one, make
sure the new one meets the specifications.

Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.
Dispose of used batteries according to government’s laws
and regulation.
Do not charge the lithium battery.

eteinte et que le cordon d’alimentation soit debranche.
Lorsque vous changez la pile au lithium, assurez vous que
la nouvelle respecte bien les caracteristiques requises.

attention a l’inserer dans le bon sens en respectant la
polarite.
Veillez a jeter les piles usagees selon le reglement local.
Ne rechargez pas les piles au lithium.

printer so you do not damage the electrical elements with
static electricity.
