9. Hold down the green button holding the toner cartridge in place
on the developer unit. As you hold down the button, slide the
toner cartridge toward the button to disengage it from the
developer unit, as shown below.

Lift off the cartridge and discard it. Avoid touching the bottom
of the cartridge.
