load even when
the paper loading
rollers turn?

Set a cleaning sheet in the ASF with the non-adhesive
area to the top. While holding the top edge, press the
Load/Eject button to clean the paper loading rollers (the
semicircular rubber rollers in the ASF). To remove severe
soiling, staple a cloth moistened with alcohol to a post
card and clean the roller in the same manner.

Is the connector
for the PE sensor
disconnected?

Connect the connector (yellow, 3-pin) for the PE sensor.

• Does the PE

sensor
actuator get
stuck?

• Is the sensor

securely
installed?

• Using your hand, move the actuator as if it were being

pushed by incoming paper. Then release the actuator
and check if it automatically returns to its original
position with the tension of the spring.

• Referring to the illustration above, check that the

sensor base is securely installed to the frame. If the
sensor base is loose, install it securely.

Measure the voltage at the yellow 3-pin connector
on the relay board while toggling the actuator,
checking against the following voltages:

The actuator is pushed: 2.4 V or more

The actuator is released: 0.7 V or less

Is the ASF damaged?

Hand-rotate the shaft in the ASF in the paper feed
direction and check if the hopper springs back every
time you rotate the shaft.

NOTE: If you suspect that the hopper is not

operating at the correct timing for paper
feeding, reassembly or replace the ASF.
