5. OPERATION
After connection to the power supply, or after a power failure, the PIR sensor will be
functional approx. 5 seconds after its automatic self-test. If movement is detected by the
PIR sensor after it is functional, it will turn on the light fi tting if conditions are dusk enough
(see LUX adjustment). The light fi tting will switch off when the movement stops and the
delay time set on the TIME potentiometer has been reached.
The PIR sensor’s green LED glows dimly when the sensor is ready to operate but has not
been triggered. When the sensor is triggered by movement the red LED comes on. If the
device detects a fault during the self-test, after connection to the power supply, the red LED
fl ashes alternately brightly and dimly.
6. ADJUSTMENTS
Before any adjustments can be made the diffuser must be removed. Adjustments should be
made using a small screwdriver, the appropriate potentiometer being gently turned. The
marked settings are only an approximate guide and are not precise (see pic. 4). The settings
made at the factory are the TIME horizontal setting (approx. 3 minutes), the LUX medium
setting (approx. 100 lx) and the SENS horizontal setting (set to the max. side).
SENS
The SENS potentiometer permits adjustment of the sensitivity
of the sensor to movement. Note that also the sensor’s detection area
may be altered.
Note! The sensitivyti needs to be turned to the lower
position if there will be self ignitions, e.g. on windy weather.
TEST
Turning the SENS potentiometer moves the sensor in the test
mode. This test mode lasts for 3 minutes from the last adjustment
of the SENS potentiometer. In the test mode the green and red LEDs
fl ash alternately. In the test mode the detection area can be tested by
walking across in front of the sensor, causing the light fi tting to switch
on in response to the movement for approx. 5 seconds. The sensitivity
during a test will be at the level indicated on the SENS potentiometer.
After switch off there is a delay of approx. 2 seconds before switching
on again.
LUX
The PIR sensor always reacts if the illumination is lower than
the operating threshold set on the potentiometer (LUX setting). If
the LUX potentiometer is turned so that a dim LED (red or green)
becomes brighter, the sensor goes into the illumination level setting
mode. In the setting mode the sensor switch the light fi tting off and
it will not come on for approx. 5 seconds. The ambient illumination
level is indicated by the LEDs at the point where the green and red
LEDs changeover. If the LUX level set is higher than the ambient
illumination, the red LED will glow brightly and if it is lower the green
LED will glow brightly.
When adjusting the potentiometer into the infi nity position, will LED
(normally red colour) fl ash once.
N.B. The LUX setting is affected by the angle of the incident light, as
also by e.g. refl ection from the setter’s clothing. The LUX level can be
set between 1 lx - infi nity.
