Wired communication
The parameters that are required to set up wired HART communication between the WirelessHART
Adapter and one or more HART field devices can be configured in the adapter DTM.
1. Click
Wired Communication
in the DTM navigation tree.
–
You can enter text in the white fields. Press
Enter
to save your changes.
–
The gray fields are read-only.
–
An explanation of the individual parameters is provided in the "Wired communication
parameters" table below. Mandatory fields are highlighted in bold.

Master Type
In a current loop, different HART master types must be assigned,
for instance, to a device configurator - such as the FieldXpert - and
the WirelessHART Adapter.
– Primary Master is the default setting.
– There is a Primary Master and a Secondary Master
– If a device configurator or another master/host is connected, it
must be set to the Secondary Master.

Preambles
Number of preambles sent at start of the HART frame to
synchronize wired communication.
– Range: 5 to 20
– All connected devices require this setting

Retries
Number of times the WirelessHART Adapter tries to establish
communication with the connected field device before it reports a
communication error.

Lowest Scan Address
Address as of which the WirelessHART Adapter starts scanning for
connected field devices.
0
0
Highest Scan Address
Address up to which the WirelessHART Adapter scans for
connected field devices.
– A HART device providing a 4 to 20 mA output in a control loop
will have the address 0.
– Normally a single HART field device that is powered by the
WirelessHART Adapter will have the address 1. This ensures it
works in multidrop mode. The current signal of each user is
frozen at 4 mA.
– Enter the highest address if several field devices (max. 4) are
connected in the multidrop mode.
