Rectification
N.B.:
You may have to change or correct certain settings in functions in the function matrix in order to rectify the
fault. The functions outlined below, such as DISPLAY DAMPING, for example, are described in detail in
the “Description of Device Functions” manual.
Flow values are negative,
even though the fluid is
flowing forwards through the
pipe.
Change the setting in the “INSTALLATION DIRECTION SENSOR” function
accordingly.
Measured value reading
fluctuates even though flow
is steady.
1.
Check grounding and potential equalization
o
2.
Check the fluid for presence of gas bubbles.
3.
In the “TIME CONSTANT” function (current output)
o
increase the
value
4.
In the “DISPLAY DAMPING” function
o
increase the value
Measured value reading or
output pulsates or fluctua-
tes, e.g. because of recipro-
cating pump, peristaltic
pump, diaphragm pump or
pump with similar delivery
characteristic.
1.
In the “TIME CONSTANT” function (current output)
o
increase the
value
2.
If the problem persists despite this measure, a pulsation damper will
have to be installed between pump and measuring device.
There are differences bet-
ween the flowmeter's inter-
nal totalizer and the external
metering device.
This symptom is due primarily to backflow in the piping, because the
pulse output cannot subtract in the “STANDARD or SYMMETRY” measu-
ring modes.
Measured-value reading
shown on display, even
though the fluid is at a
standstill and the measuring
tube is full.
1.
Check grounding and potential equalization
2.
Check the fluid for presence of gas bubbles.
3.
Activate the “LOW FLOW CUT OFF” function, i.e. enter or increase the
value for the switching point.
Measured-value reading on
display, even though
measuring tube is empty.
1.
Perform empty-pipe/full-pipe calibration and then switch on Empty
Pipe detection
o
2.
Fill the measuring tube.
The current output signal is
always 4 mA, irrespective of
the flow signal at any given
time.
1.
Select the “BUS ADDRESS” function and change the setting to “0”.
2.
Value for creepage too high. Reduce the corresponding values in the
“Low flow cut off” functions (ON-/OFF VALUE).
3.
The nominal diameter value of the sensor in the software doesn’t com-
plie with the actual nominal diameter.
4.
If the full scale value setting is 4 mA, this value is too low. If the full
scale value setting is 20 mA, this value is too high.
The fault cannot be rectified
or some other fault not
described above has ari-
sen.
In these instances, please
contact your E+H service
organisation.
The following options are available for tackling problems of this nature:
Request the services of an E+H service technician
If you contact our service organisation to have a service technician sent
out, please be ready to quote the following information:
– Brief description of the fault
– Nameplate specifications (Page 7 ff.): order code, serial number
Returning devices to E+H
The procedures on Page 6 must be carried out before you return a flow-
meter requiring repair or calibration to Hauser.
Always enclose a duly completed “Declaration of contamination” form
with the flowmeter. You will find a preprinted form at the back of this
manual.
Replace transmitter electronics
Components in the measuring electronics defective
o
order spare parts
