Group VERIFICATION TRANSMITTER
In the VERIFICATION TRANSMITTER group, a measuring device can be checked for the following
characteristic values:
• Functionality and deviation in the flow measurement (based on the set point preset by Fieldcheck)
• Functionality and deviation of the current and frequency outputs if these outputs are available in
the measuring device. The specified set points correspond in the gradation to the measuring points
when determining flow.
Data bus outputs such as PROFIBUS or FOUNDATION FIELDBUS cannot be directly checked by
Fieldcheck.
• Dynamic test of CLAMP ON-type sensors.
!
Note!
The optional accessory "Prosonic Flow test block" is needed for this test.
Verification of transmitter
Checking the linearity of the amplifier (channel 1 or channel 2)
:
Simulated flow at four measuring points which are determined via the 100% full scale value (can be
selected for a presumed fluid velocity between 4 m/s and 8 m/s).
!
Note!
For Prosonic Flow 93-type measuring devices, first select the measuring channel for which the
verification should be run (entry field: FUNCTION
VERIFICATION
APPLIC./OUTPUT
CHANNEL 1 or CHANNEL 2). The functionality and accuracy of the existing outputs are checked
regardless of their assignment.
Checking a current output:
Each current output can be verified in the configuration in the measuring device (CURRENT
RANGE function (0-20 mA, 4-20 mA)) in the same gradation (5% to 100%) as the amplifier. For
this purpose, the current output must be directly connected to the current input of Fieldcheck. If
more than one current output is available, verification takes place in several, menu-guided steps.
Checking a frequency output
(FREQUENCY operating mode):
Each frequency output can be verified in the configuration in the measuring device (START VALUE
FREQUENCY, END VALUE FREQUENCY, OUTPUT SIGNAL functions) in the same gradation (5%
to 100%) as the amplifier. For this purpose, the frequency output must be directly connected to the
frequency input of Fieldcheck. If more than one frequency output is available, verification takes
place in several, menu-guided steps.
Checking a frequency output
(PULSE operating mode):
Each pulse output available can be verified in the configuration in the measuring device (PULSE
WIDTH, OUTPUT SIGNAL functions). Here, the device outputs a predefined number of pulses
which is counted by Fieldcheck.
Sensor test
A complete function test can be carried out on a CLAMP ON-type sensor using the "Prosonic Flow
test block". Once the CLAMP ON sensors have been fixed on the test block, Fieldcheck loads a
predefined data record into the measuring device and the following measured values are checked:
• Delta T
• Time-of flight
• Signal intensity
• Sound velocity
At the end of this test, the original parameters are restored in the measuring device.
!
Note!
When fixing the sensors to the test block, make sure to use coupling fluid as the measurement
results are otherwise incorrect.
