Installation
The Rosemount 5408:SIS must be installed and configured as described in
. No special installation is required in addition to the
standard installation practices outlined in this manual.
The loop should be designed so the terminal voltage is within the limits specified in section

Note
The Rosemount 5408:SIS Level Transmitter is not safety-rated during maintenance work,
configuration changes, multidrop, loop test, proof-test, or other activity that affects the
safety function. Alternative means should be used to ensure process safety during such
activities.
8.5.1
Measuring range
The maximum measuring range is 82 ft. (25 m) for the Rosemount 5408:SIS Level
Transmitter in Safety (SIS) mode. Refer to
Specifications and reference data
performance specification data.
8.6
Configuration
Use a HART-compliant master, such as Rosemount Radar Master Plus, AMS Device
Manager, or a Field Communicator, to communicate with and verify configuration of the
Rosemount 5408:SIS.

Prerequisites
Before doing any configuration, do the following:
