12.
Cut the black, blue and white leads to a 2”
to 3” length, then strip 3/8” of insulation
from the leads (Figure 8).
13.
Three new #18 GA stranded leads (black,
white and blue) should be cut a length of 16
to 18 inches longer than the downrod being
used. Feed all three new leads through the
motor wireway, enough to make splices
(Figure 9). Strip 3/8” of insulation and
connect the new leads to matching color
motor leads. Use wire connectors that are
UL listed and sized to connect two #18 GA
stranded wires. After splices are made,
follow Steps 3 through 8. Assemble and
install the ceiling fan per instructions in the
Ceiling Fan Owner’s Manual.
Do not exceed 6-foot downrod length. All
downrods must be Emerson downrods.
Use of other brand downrods will void
the warranty on this fan.

!
WARNING:
TO AVOID FIRE, SHOCK, AND SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, FOLLOW THESE
INSTRUCTIONS.
Safety Instructions
1. READ YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL CAREFULLY AND KEEP IT FOR FUTURE
REFERENCE.
2. BEFORE SERVICING OR CLEANING UNIT, SWITCH POWER OFF AT SERVICE PANEL
AND LOCK SERVICE PANEL DISCONNECTING MEANS TO PREVENT POWER FROM
BEING SWITCHED ON ACCIDENTALLY. WHEN THE SERVICE DISCONNECTING
MEANS CANNOT BE LOCKED, SECURELY FASTEN A WARNING DEVICE, SUCH AS A
TAG, TO THE SERVICE PANEL.
3. BE CAREFUL OF THE FAN AND BLADES WHEN CLEANING, PAINTING, OR
WORKING NEAR THE FAN.

Additional Safety Instructions for Installation
1. TO AVOID POSSIBLE SHOCK, BE SURE ELECTRICITY IS TURNED OFF AT THE FUSE
BOX BEFORE WIRING.
2. ALL WIRING MUST SATISFY NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTRICAL CODES.
ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION SHOULD BE MADE OR APPROVED BY A LICENSED

PROVIDED WITH THE OUTLET BOX. MOST OUTLET BOXES COMMONLY USED FOR
SUPPORT OF LIGHT FIXTURES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR FAN SUPPORT AND
MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN IF IN DOUBT.
4. THE FAN MUST BE MOUNTED WITH THE FAN BLADES AT LEAST 7 FEET FROM THE
FLOOR TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL CONTACT WITH THE FAN BLADES.
DO NOT COMBINE 2 OR MORE DOWNRODS.
5. WHEN ASSEMBLING FAN, BE SURE THAT DOWNROD IS SECURELY ATTACHED TO
THE MOTOR BY A STAINLESS STEEL SCREW AND TO THE HANGER BALL BY A
CROSS PIN (BOTH SUPPLIED WITH FAN), AND MAKE SURE SETSCREWS AT MOTOR
END AND HANGER BALL ARE TIGHTENED SECURELY AGAINST THE DOWNROD.
FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN THE FAN BECOMING LOOSE AND FALLING.
6. FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDED INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PROPER METHOD OF
WIRING YOUR CEILING FAN. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT ELECTRICAL
WIRING, OR NEED ELECTRICAL WORK NOT DESCRIBED IN THIS MANUAL, HAVE
YOUR FAN INSTALLED BY A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN.
