Backplane
The shelf backplane supports two hub slots, four node slots, and two SAMs. This AdvancedTCA
backplane provides the IPMB and I

C bus interface signals from the shelf manager to all
AdvancedTCA blades and the other FRUs. The backplane provides signal routing for fail-over
signals between active SAM and standby SAM. The backplane is not a Field Replaceable Unit
(FRU).

Functional Layout
The backplane provides dual star base interface and dual star fabric interface connections at
each blade slot with segmented power (two power segments) provided by the dual Power
Entry Modules (PEMs) or AC PSUs.
