Fabric Zoning
Configuring and Managing Zoning
This section contains detailed steps for establishing new zones and
zone sets in a fabric. Steps are also provided for other zoning tasks. In
addition, a quick reference chart on using zoning menu options and
dialog boxes to perform specific zoning tasks is included in Zoning
Tasks Reference Chart on page 4-31.
Configuring New
Zoning for a Fabric
Use the following tasks to configure a new zone and zone set, and
then activate the new zone set for the fabric. Steps are provided in
each task to show you how to use dialog boxes and other features of
fabric zoning.
All features to configure zones and zone sets are available through
the Zone Sets dialog box. Display this dialog box by moving your
cursor over the Configure icon and selecting Zone Sets from the
Zoning
pop-up menu.
Task 1: Create Zones A Zone is a set of WWNs of attached devices. In a single-HBA zone,
the WWN of the HBA and all the storage devices’ WWNs to be
accessed by the HBA are members of the zone. The zone is named to
faciliatate zone management.
To create zones, perform the following steps:
1. From either the Zoning View or Topology View, move your
cursor over the Configure icon and select Zone Sets from the
pop-up menu.
This displays the Zone Sets dialog box, shown in Figure 4-1 on
page 4-7.
The Zone Set Library lists all of the defined zone sets. If zone sets
are not defined, this library is empty. Click the magnifying glass
icon next to a zone set to expand the list of zones included in the
set. Click the magnifying glass icon next to a zone to expand the
list of members included in the zone.
