FE260 GSM/GPRS version with ComFTP modem application
ComFTP is a program in the FE260 modem. It reads out the EK280 cyclically and transmits the data
independently by the so-called PUSH method to a previously set up FTP server.
In addition to the FTP function, the standard GSM/CSD mode (PULL principle) is also possible by calling a
data telephone number (albeit not at the same time).
i
The active ComFTP application will incur costs due to continuous data volume transmission via
a mobile network. Estimate adequate reserve for this. Talk to your provider to obtain an
economical tariff. Switching off roaming can also help to reduce costs. Optimization of these
factors is your responsibility.
i
Wireless networks can be disrupted, therefore one hundred percent data transfer cannot be
guaranteed in any case.
i
This application works only with an FE260 with "ComFTP" option. This option
must be requested when ordering the FE260.
FE260 compatibility is indicated by the field marked "ComFTP" on the FE260
modem's label.
i
As this application is very complex, it is essential that you please carry out the activities in the
exact order described to obtain the desired result.
7.3.6.1 Prerequisites for operation with ComFTP
The following conditions must be fulfilled to enable operation of the ComFTP application:
The ComFTP server must be configured. It is vital to ensure that adequate free space is available.
The directories used for standard response and archive transfer must exist.
ComFTP server maintenance must be assured - the data must be processed in a timely manner. If
this is overlooked, data loss may occur. Talk to your IT department or relevant service provider about
this.
7.3.6.2 Preparation
Initial conditions:
The FE260 is connected and configured as described in chapter 7.3.1.
The SIM card is inserted and unlocked as described in chapter 7.3.2.
For the following parameterization the FE260 power supply must be switched off.
7.3.6.3 Opening the customer lock
In order for ComFTP to read data from the EK280 and save it on the server, at least one EK280 lock must be
permanently open. For this purpose it is recommended to use the customer lock, as this contains the least
write permissions and therefore avoids the risk of unauthorized parameter updates.
Move the cursor to the "
Serv.
" tab in the EK280's display, then to
Device settings > Access > St.CL
(customer lock status).
If "
open
" is displayed below
St.CL
the customer lock is already open.
If "
locked
" is displayed under
St.CL
move the cursor over to
Cod.C
and after pressing the
ENTER
key on the keypad, enter the single digit customer lock with the keypad.
The default customer lock setting is "
0
". After pressing
ENTER
to commit the change, check that
"
open
" is now displayed under
St.CL
.
In order to ensure the customer lock is not automatically closed again, Move the cursor further down
to
AutCL
and make sure that "
0 minutes
" is displayed here.
If "
0 minutes
" is not displayed under
AutCL
, set the value after pressing the
ENTER
button on the
keypad to "
0
" and save the input with the
ENTER
button.
