Snipper 55225
1. Open blade – Release locking clip to open
handles and blade.
2. Place material to be cut in blade opening
and squeeze handles firmly until blade cuts
through the material.
3. Keep blade in closed position until ready
to cut again. Position locking clip over
handles when tool is not in use.
Snipper 55226 & 55227
1. Pull the handles apart fully to open blade.
2. Place material to be cut squarely against
the cradle, and squeeze handles together
completely. Relax the handles to engage
next ratchet tooth and squeeze handles
again.Repeat until blade cuts through
the material.
NOTE: Snipper 55226 also cuts up to #9 soft
copper (tracer) wire. Place wire in groove, and
fully close snippers.
Caution
Always wear eye protection. Special care is
needed when cutting cold or brittle plastics.
Pipe can crack or shatter causing possible
eye injury. Keep fingers clear when cutting.
Blade is sharp! Pick up and hold tool by
handles. When not using snipper, keep
blade in closed position to avoid injury
and to prevent damage to blade.
Helpful Hints
• To prevent cracking of cold pipe – warm
pipe (no direct flame) and make cut
using slow, even strokes.
• Apply light oil on mechanism to reduce
friction and prevent rusting.
• Rotate snipper slightly around very
flexible thin pipe to assist in cutting.
Resharpen Blade
Using fine, hard whetstone held at 30° angle
to blade, sharpen evenly on both sides of
cutting edge. If cut is not square, sharpen
side toward which blade deflects. Draw
stone into blade, not away.
Replace Blade
Snipper 55225 / Blade 55225B
Remove blade pivot bolt assembly. Slide
actuating handle from cutter body. Remove
both Phillips head screws and pull out
blade. Reinstall new or sharpened blade
into blade slot, then replace and tighten
screws. Slip actuating handle through cutter
body, blade first. Replace and tighten pivot
assembly.

Fully open handles. Remove nut
and blade pivot bolt and wave washers
using screwdriver and wrench. Pull blade
out of body to expose blade pin and
retaining ring. CAUTION: Blade is very
sharp. Remove ring and pin. Reassemble
in reverse order. Check the replacement
blade for straight cuts.

Fully open handles. Remove nut
and blade pivot bolt and waive washers
using screwdriver and wrench. Pull blade
out of body to expose blade pin and
retaining ring. CAUTION: Blade is very
sharp. Remove ring and pin. Reassemble
in reverse order. Check the replacement
blade for straight cuts.
