4.2 RADIO CONNECTION TEST
Before installing the different components of the system it is necessary to preventatively verify that they are able to
communicate with each-other.
First of all verify the remote controls which have a shorter radio range in comparison with the other devices. The
communication must be tested from the areas where they are more likely to be used, such as, for example, from outside
the entrance door. Quickly press key 5 rapidly (if you have a 5 key control) or key 3 (if you have a 3 key control); if the
corresponding LED switches on green for about 2 seconds, it means that the communication with the control panel was
successful (indication of deactivated system). On the other hand, if all the red LEDS of the remote control flash, it means
that the communication with the control panel was not successful.
Caution:
the remote controls do not appear in the list of the control panel (checked devices).
4.2.1 RADIO CONNECTION TEST
The WL31 system enables to check the efficiency of the radio communication between the control panel and the
periphery devices being supervised, by means of an instrument built into the control panel which provides
information connected with the signal power measured by each device. This system (Patent pending) replaces in a
more effective way the traditional methods based on external instruments.
To verify this, do as follows:
1. Position every device in the intended final position or near it, without fixing it. All devices must be powered and
already acquired.
2. Position the control panel in its intended final position (if you have made the tests for remote controls or GSM
field, it should be already in position).
3. Activate the
Maintenance - Connection test
by pressing
. The display shows the
message «Maintenance Connection Test».
4. Start the test automatic procedure by pressing the OK key. The display shows the message «Test underway»
and a bar shows its progress.
During the check, the power of the radio signal is reduced, to assure a maximum efficiency of
communication under standard operation conditions,
5. At the end the display shows the first device, identified by its type, address and test result. This result can be as
follows:
or
Perfect connection
or
Good connection
Sufficient connection
or
or “Insuff.Signal
Insufficient connection
“No Signal”
Damaged device, no power or out of radio range
Use the key
to see the result of the test for the various devices: if the result is included between
and
for all devices, go to item 10.
6. If the test result of some devices is
or
or “Insuff.Signal, try to move them to a
friendly position with respect to the control panel, press the
OK
key and repeat the test from item 5.
Should you do not obtain an acceptable signal level by simply moving the devices (excessive signal
attenuation, radio sh
adow zones, …) then, find another position for the control panel. Once having moved the
control panel, press
OK
and repeat the test from point 5.
7. In case of doubt on device operation, place it near the control panel (about 1 meter) and repeat the test. If the
result, for the concerned device, is included between
and
it is working properly,
otherwise it could be faulty or not powered.
Warning
: always verify that in the new position the 4.3.1 INSTALLATION WARNING for the control panel
are met (page 28).
8. Output from the menu by pressing the ESC key many times, until the display shows the message
«((( ELKRON )))».
9. Enter first into the "Stop menu", then deactivate the control panel power and the power of all the devices
(disconnecting or removing the batteries), apart from the remote controls. If the control panel has a GSM
module, make the GSM field test, as explained at the following section, before cutting power to control panel
and devices.
