XP-4 OPERATING MANUAL
INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of a very versatile power supply. The XP-4 has been designed to
give you years of trouble-free performance if used properly.
The Model XP-4 features four solid state DC power supplies. All internal DC power modules are UL
approved for your safety. The first supply has a variable output from 0 to 12 volts at 0.5 amperes. The
second supply has a fixed output at 12 volts and 0.5 amperes. The third supply has a fixed output at
5 volts and 1 ampere. While the fourth supply has a fixed output at –5 volts and 0.25 amperes. All
four supplies are fully protected from short circuiting their outputs. All supplies are fully regulated with
special circuits that keep the output voltages from changing when the current changes from 0 to rated
output. This supply is ideal for use in school labs, service shops, design labs, or anywhere precise DC
voltages are required.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Check the voltage rating of the equipment to be powered.
2. Plug the power line cord on the XP-4 into a 120V, 60Hz AC outlet.
3. Adjust the voltage control to desired voltage. Load variation will have no effect on the voltage
setting if the current rating is not exceeded.
4. Connect the positive lead of your equipment to the +12 or +5 output terminal and the negative lead
to the – or COM terminal when using the positive supplies. For the negative voltage use the –5
terminal.
5. Care must be taken not to exceed the current rating or the supplies will turn themselves off for
protection.
6. The Model XP-4 has the added feature of stacking the variable and fixed positive supplies as
shown below:
