A unit with motor nameplate speci
fi
cation T3 and speci
fi
ca-
tion T4 at the nameplate of the blower section can only be
used for temperature class T3. The same principle applies to
the equipment category.
Special applications and application conditions can increase
the hazard potential and must therefore be communicated to
and co-ordinated in advance with Elektror.
Intended use includes the following:
• The unit is operated in upright position, i.e. the blower
section/impeller with its support disk is installed
perpendicular to the
fl
oor.
• An exact right-angled installation is possible with the
vertical motor shaft and horizontally positioned impeller
and a protective roof above the fan cowling of the motor.
• The temperature of the
fl
ow medium must not exceed
+60 °C at the intake.
• The ambient temperature must not 40 °C.
• The minimum temperature of the
fl
ow medium is -20 °C.
• The minimum ambient temperature is -20 °C;
with individual versions, a space heater is possible
(only category EEx de II 2GD T4 135 °C).
• Equipment categories 2G and 3G:
The
fl
ow medium and the area surrounding the blower
do not contain substances that may corrode the materials,
such as acids, alkaline or caustic solutions, solvents,
airborne rust, iron oxides, aggressive or abrasive gases,
liquids or solid substances. The
fl
ow medium is free from
substances which may settle, are adhesive or may form
condensates, and is free from foreign particles.
• Equipment categories 2D and 3D:
The
fl
ow medium and area surrounding the blower do not
contain a substances that may corrode the materials, such
as acids, alkaline or caustic solutions, solvents, airborne
rust, iron oxides, aggressive or abrasive gases of liquids.
The
fl
ow medium is free from substances that are
adhesive or may form condensates.
• For safety reasons, Elektror ATEX blowers must not be
operated to the left of the maximum pressure increase
volumetric
fl
ow rate characteristic curve. This helps
prevent the potential risk of pumping action by the
impeller under special operating conditions.
• Blowers with motors according to type of ignition protec-
tion EEx e are suitable exclusively for mains operation
with rated voltage ± 5% and frequency and must never be
used for frequency-converter operation.
Designated use excludes the following:
• Special ambient conditions such as, for example, ambient
temperatures at the installation / operation site of more
than +40 °C; dust deposits; vibrations at the installation /
operation site of the blower.
• Operation near / in
fl
ames or hot gases. The blower must
not be used as an ignition or
fl
ame arrester.
• Conveying of foreign matter.
• Adiabatic compression and shock waves, lightning,
electromagnetic waves, ionising radiation, ultrasound.
Special designs:
Can be provided upon request for applications in conditions
beyond those described in these instructions. In the case of
special equipment, the enclosed supplementary operating
and assembly instructions must be observed and adhered
to. The supplementary instructions differ in certain respects
from these Operating and Assembly Instructions.
Elektror blowers offer a high level of operational reliability.
As the blowers are high-powered machines, the safety in-
structions must be strictly observed in order to avoid injuries,
damage to objects and to the machine itself.
1.2 Mechanical hazards
The mechanical hazards in Elektror blowers have been mini-
mised in accordance with the current state of the art, as well
as the requirements for safety and health protection. To elimi-
nate any further risk on the part of the operator, we recom-
mend that suitable protective gear be used and worn during
all lifecycle phases of the appliance (please refer to the in-
structions below).
1.3 Electrical hazards
Before carrying out electrical work, the appliance must al-
ways be switched off and protected against accidental re-
starting. Check that no voltage is present. The possibility of
electrostatic charge must be excluded.
1.4 Danger when reaching in and due to unexpected
start-up
The rotating parts inside the appliance pose a high risk of
injury during operation. Before opening, reaching in or insert-
ing tools into the appliance, always shut it down and wait
until all moving parts come to a standstill. Make sure the ap-
pliance is reliably protected against restarting while work is
in progress.
Also make sure that no hazardous situation can occur as a
consequence of restarting after shutdown, e.g. as a result of
a power cut or blockage.
1.5 Weight and stability
Beware of falling hazards during transportation and installa-
tion in particular. Refer to 2.1 – Transportation and handling,
as well as 3.2 – Installation and assembly.
1.6 Suction effect
The blowers produce a powerful suction effect.
Warning!
Objects, items of clothing and also hair can be
sucked into the intake port. Risk of injury!
Do not stand near the intake opening during op-
eration. The blower must not under any circum-
stances be operated with the intake port open,
and should, therefore, be covered with a wire
guard in conformity with DIN EN ISO 13857
(danger of injury from impeller!).
1.7 Blowing effect
Warning!
The blowing effect is very powerful on the ex-
haust side. Sucked in objects may be ejected at
very high speed (danger of injury).
Blowers are suitable exclusively for conveying
clean air or pure gaseous gas-air mixtures. To re-
liably prevent the sucking-in of foreign objects or
contaminants, which might be discharged, these
objects have to be removed before entering into
the blower by installing a
fi
lter.
Do not reach into the exhaust.
