Connection to DC loads
Connection to transformerless DC-AC inverters (for example solar inverters) is restricted, be
-
cause the inverter can shift the potential of negative output (DC-) against PE (ground). Refer
to section
„1.8.3. Technical specifications“
for the allowed max. potential shift.
The DC output is located on the rear side of the cabinet and is
not
protected by any kind of fuse. The cross sec
-
tion of the connection cables is determined by the current consumption, cable length and ambient temperature.
For cables
up to 5 m
of length and an average ambient temperature
up to 30°C
we recommend cross sections
per DC pole
(multi-conductor, insulated, openly suspended, standard cable) as listed in the table below. For
longer cables or higher ambient temperatures the cross section must be increased accordingly in order to avoid
high voltage loss and overheating.
The cables are usually crimped with ring lugs and are tightened to the connection point at the lower end of the DC
bus bars. The mounting hole diameter of the ring lug should match the one of the connection point. This restricts
the number of applicable cable cross sections, for example because a M8 ring lug can take a max. of 95 mm² or
150 mm², depending on the manufacturer of the ring lug. The number of cables which are required increases when
using a smaller cross section per cable, but the cables also become better manageable.
