Operator Terminal
The optional Operator Terminal connects to the PDM through serial port 1 on P7. The cable
connects to the COM1 connector on the back of the Operator terminal. The COM1 connector is
a twenty-five pin male D connector. The IQ Operator Terminal may be wired using RS-232C for
distances up to 15.2 meter (50 feet). For longer distances, RS-422 should be used. Refer to the
IQ Master Instruction Manual for details on configuring serial port 1 for RS-422 use. Refer to the
following diagrams for wiring details.
As an option, any generic operator terminal may be connected to the PDM Serial Port 1. In the
default configuration, the PDM expects an IQ Operator Terminal to be connected, so if a generic
terminal is used, the PDM must be configured properly. Refer to the IQ Master Instruction Man-
ual, Chapter 2, Parameter menu > Serial for more information.

Networking the IQ Operator Terminal
Figure 3.19 illustrates an additional option, which is to connect one Operator Terminal to mul-
tiple PDMs. This method requires RS-422 connections as shown in the following drawing. A
PDM may be selected from the terminal by using the NO key followed by the numeric key
corresponding to the PDM Operator Terminal address which must be set up in IQ Master. Refer
to the IQ Master Instruction Manual for configuration details.
